Pat Slimmer started working on cars as a young boy helping his dad fix the family cars. In 1977 Pat started his first job as a professional technician. By the early 1980s Pat had achieved the rank of ASE Master Technician and was a shop manager for a thriving local shop. After that, Pat worked for several local GM dealers, achieving the rank of Master General Motor’s Technician.
In February 2019, Pat and Linda decided the time had come to pursue other interests, and sold the business to Richard Backus and Marcos Markoulatos. No strangers to the industry, Richard – or Richie, as everyone knows him – and Marcos both come from a strong automotive background. A former BMW technician and nationally recognized Mini Master Tech, Marcos brings years of training and expertise in European cars to the business. Coming full circle in his career, Richie was formerly General Manager of Slimmer’s Automotive Service when it opened its new shop at 2030 East 23rd St.
In September 2019, Marcos and Richie moved Slimmer’s Automotive Service to its current location, the former Lawrence Bus Co. bus barn at 901 Delaware St., completely renovated and equipped with all new lifts and equipment to supply Lawrence with the highest quality local repair available for European and Asian cars.
